Once again we are busily flying through another school year. I am
so happy to be back at my home school Sakamoto Junior High School this
year, as well as Uraga Junior High School, where I spend a few hours each
month.
I n July, I invited the English Club at Sakamoto Junior High School
on a field trip to the Navy Base here in Yokosuka. My family and I were
excited to have the English Club come visit us. They were able to see the
USS KITTYHAWK at pier side and take some pictures. While at our house,
on base, we all enjoyed a cookout and games. The favorite thing to do was
play X-BOX. Japanese and American students certainly have something in
common in their love for video games! Our final stop on base was the Baskin
Robbins Ice Cream shop! After such a hot day, the ice cream sure tasted
good!
This month, I’ve had the privilege of observing my very first Sports
Day. What a great time! I enjoyed watching the sporting events and cheering
for all the students. It was so nice to see such team effort and sportsmanship.
Every student participated and every student gave 100% effort. I particularly
enjoyed watching the teachers and principals take part and compete in an
event or two.
I look forward to the rest of the school year and the many opportunities the students and I will have for interaction.
