I was thrilled to return back to Kamoi JHS this year. Having already had a year with the second and third year students, a comfort level had already been established. I believe that this comfortableness is one of the key elements in helping the students improve their English abilities. When the students are comfortable, they know what is expected and know that trying to speak is more important than the perfection of their speaking. I am especially thrilled about my third year student’s progress. It is amazing to look back and compare when I first met them to their current English abilities. This is an incredible year of change for the third year students. A lot of pressure is felt studying for entrance examinations and preparing for high school. I would like to take this opportunity to commend my third year students. They are gaining confidence as individuals and English speakers. They are enthusiastic English learners and enjoy a sense of humor. I have such a great time during our time spent communicating and exchanging cultural information. While reading the essays the students wrote about summer vacation, I was pleased to find that many of the students are attempting to communicate with foreigners. I hope this expression of confidence will follow them throughout life.  |
